Having attracted the rich and famous over the last two centuries, it's no surprise there are plenty of historical plaques in this area, which show a glimmer of Hampstead's glamorous inhabitants. It is a picturesque place loved by artists and authors over the years including John Constable, George Romney and Bram Stoker.
On this London walking tour, discover how Hampstead Village has a rich history of intellectual and artistic associations and, of course, the beautiful Hampstead Heath.
Walk includes inclines and potentially slippery surfaces.

"I never realised that Hampstead was originally a spa town where people came in the 18th century to drink the iron rich “chalybeate” waters. One of the many interesting facts presented in this informative walk which took place in – rather unusually for 2023 - glorious sunshine."

"Hampstead village highlights walk today with blue badge guide Rona Levine was excellent! She took us through the backstreets revealing the history, famous inhabitants and breat contributions. Just hundreds of yards away from the busy hight street the feeling was like we were in a quaint country village with narrow cobbled streets and squares, green and lush gardens and amazing architecture. We learnt so much and enjoyed this walk enormously. Will recommend this walk to anyone with interest in great painters, writers, actors and so on. Many thanks to Rona for a great walk!"
